“What we have seen today speaks louder than words. We have come here to assess performance and inspect projects, and from all indications, the Chairman has done remarkably well. The level of work ongoing here is commendable and worthy of emulation.” – AKHA, Monday, July 6, 2026._

Members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly team could not have held back their sincere appreciation and genuine commendation for what they saw, and the man behind the development. They were overwhelmed, amazed, and excited by the magnitude, speed and commitment Hon Uko Umoh has devoted to making things happen in Etinan Local Government Area.

Leading the delegation was the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung. On the committee were the Chief Whip of the House, Rt. Hon. Effiong Johnson; Rt. Hon. Asuquo Nana; Rt. Hon. Pius Bassey; Rt. Hon. Uwem Imo Ita; Hon. Eric Akpan; Rt. Hon. Jerry Otu; Hon. Kenim Onofiok; Hon. Moses Essien, as well as the Clerk of the Committee,Comrade Uduak Obong Okon.

The lawmakers can now say they are eye-witness. They already have heard about it and here they were face to face with concrete proofs. Their fair score therefore was based on evidence beyond doubt. It was not a sentimental commendation. It was not a lip-service or synthetic remarks that politics sometimes is known for. They were pleased. Very pleased by what they saw and hope to see as the chairman unveiled his pending action plan.

The impressive record of performance of Hon Uko Umoh, FCLMI, is clearly that of capacity and a prepared mind meeting opportunity. It tells of a man determined to make history, to make a difference, to justify his election into that position, to vindicate the choice of stakeholders, and to fulfill the expectations of the wider electorate. This way, Uko Umoh further proves himself as a trusted and pragmatic ambassador of the ARISE Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno.

The House of Assembly had earlier in May 2026 announced that, as part of its oversight functions, it will be touring the 31 local government areas to monitor and evaluate the level to which chairmen of councils have utilized funds acrueable to them, especially from the federation account, in improving grassroots development. It must be mentioned that prior to the visit to Etinan Local Government Area, the House of Assembly had gone to other local councils.

Interestingly, the commendation of Hon Uko Umoh FCLMI, by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly didn’t come as any surprise to those who have closely followed the inventive trajectory of development and consequential impact in this local government area.
Exponentially, the commendation coming from the Legislature was a collective confirmation of what the Executive arm of government already had done in May 2026.

His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno had, during the inauguration of massive projects undertaken in the past one year by Hon Umoh, described him as a man of vision on a mission to transform the local government areas and deepen and beautify grassroots administration in general.

That was on the occasion of the historic commissioning of an ultra-modern Bus Terminus and provision of empowerment packages to many indigenes of the local government area.In particular, the governor had described Hon Umoh as a model of purpose-driven local government administrator others in the State and beyond should emulate.

It was therefore an icing on the cake when the House of Assembly that is currently on tour of local government areas in the State, to assess the level of performance by chairmen added their voice of gratitude and commendation to what they saw in Etinan as the rising administrative credentials of the chairman.

In his scorecard appraisal on behalf of the Assembly, Hon. Idung told council members and stakeholders that the committee was impressed by the encouraging transformation taking place in Etinan, the strategic investments aimed at improving governance, the impact on indigenes and residents, as well as what the future holds. The Parliament was therefore right in observing that,
“Leadership is best measured through tangible impact on the lives of the people”.

Uko Umoh was encouraged by the parliamentary visit. A happy and faithful steward, he therefore used the occasion to give more assurances on what’s to expect.

According to him, the visit provided an opportunity to showcase the achievements of his administration while reaffirming his commitment to doing more in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Etinan. So much is ongoing in the local government areas, if we judge by the depth of his unfolding Action Plans

Uko Umoh’s stellar performance has started even the attention of past legislators. Present during the recent visit was the 9th Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Pastor Samuel Ikon.

The grand conclusion is that Hon. Uko Umoh remains a model and the standard for assessing others.

To say the least, Hon. Uko Umoh is driving the discourse on functional local government administration in contemporary times. He’s certainly a man to watch, for good.
