Children’s Day: Etinan Council Boss Advises Against Bad Association, Hard Drugs

The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon (Dr) Uko Umoh, has called on Etinan children to shun bad company, hard drugs and alcohol in order to achieve their desired future.

In an address presented at the grand finale of the year 2026 children’s day held at the Etinan sports stadium, the council boss enumerated steps taken by government to secure a future for the children.
Dressed in a white short and a white shirt, a black belt and black sandals with white socks, the council boss said government has invested heavily in the education sector through renovation of schools, building of model which is aimed at creating a conducive teaching and learning environment obtained in other countries of the world as well as recruitment of more teachers for public schools.

“To my dear children, while government is putting the right foot forward to secure the future I want you to know that your future starts now. You have a responsibility on your part to secure a future you so desire.

“To achieve this, I urge you to shun bad company, hard drugs and alcohol and be focused in your studies. Pay attention to what you are taught in class and avoid the distraction that comes with events happening around you or on the social media”.

The Chairman thanked teachers for their commitment shown towards moulding the future of our children and urged them to redouble their effort and level of commitment.
Hon Uko Umoh urged parents to ensure that an inclusivity begins at home. “Do not discriminate any child due to the circumstances of his or her birth. Let love leads always”.
It was well attended by political stakeholders, traditional fathers, management and staff of Etinan local government Council, women groups and voluntary organisations.

The theme for this year’s celebration was Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child’ and it featured march pass and cultural display by school children.
