Ikot Akpabio Honours Uko Umoh With Utuenikang Title
In recognition of his selfless service to his community, Hon Uko Umoh, has been honoured with the title of Utuenikang Ikot Akpabio by the village Council.
The award was given as part of activities to celebrate the 2025 Ikot Akpabio day celebration.
Welcoming the Chairman and other dignitaries to the event, the chairman, organizing committee, Mr. Itoro Monday Akpan, listed the contributions of Hon Uko Umoh to include renovation of the Village Hall, rescued community secondary school from the loss of W.ASC examination centre by paying stipulated fee.
Others include the rehabilitation of our water facility and electricity transformer and various empowerment packages for our people long before he became the Chairman of Council.

Presenting the award of Utuenikang Ikot Akpabio to the Chairman, the Paramount Ruler of Etinan Local Government Area Edidem Aniefiok Monday Akpanobong, represented by the Village Head of Ikot Akata, Eteidung Ekerete Ime Ekong, said it was a thing of joy that the chairman of Council is being honoured by his community.
He described Hon Uko Umoh as a true light of not only Ikot Akpabio but the entire Etinan local government area for the numerous life touching projects he has embarked upon since assumption of office as chairman of Council.
In a goodwill message, the Chairman of APC in Etinan Local Government Area, Comrade Israel Tommy, recalled that the first man who was honoured with the title of Utuenikang Ibibio at Asan Ibibio is still shinning the light even at the national level and commended the village Council for honouring Hon Uko Umoh with such an outstanding title.
The leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh, said the title was not a mistake but very symbolic representation of the true person of the chairman.
The chairman on the occasion, Rt.Hon Barr Aniefiok Dennis, acknowledged the developmental efforts of the chairman in Urban Ward 1 in particular and Etinan local government area in general.
” I would not have been here if he did not perform to merit this award. He has justified the mandate given to him and cannot be faulted in his performance in the last one year in office.”
Obong Paul Ekpo who represents Etinan federal constituency at the National Assembly, commended the leadership of Ikot Akpabio community for the wisdom to honour who they have and described Hon Uko Umoh as a true son of Ikot Akpabio.
Responding after receiving the title, Hon Uko Umoh, accompanied by his wife Mrs Emily Uko Umoh, thanked Ikot Akpabio for the unanimous decision to honour him on a day set aside by their ancestors to celebrate the community.

He assured them of more developmental projects including human development. He also urged them to show respect to the leadership of the community, local government and the state.
“The governor has done the greatest project in Ikot Akpabio which is giving us the chairman of Etinan local government area. We owe him hundred percent loyalty and come 2027 we will return him for a second term in office”
Present at the event were the representative of Etinan state Constituency, Hon Uduak Ekpo-Ufot, Christ Ambassador Andrew Unwanta, Dr. Okon Emah, Personal Assistant to the governor on people living with disabilities, Comrade Ubong Ikpe, former chairman of transition Committee, Etinan local government area. Obong Donald Uko, Vice Chairman of Council, Hon Imaobong Michael, secretary of Council, Hon Idorenyin Udo, councilors, supervisors, clerics, Village Head of Ikot Ebo, Eteidung Dennis Akpan and the Host Village Head, Eteidung Aniediabasi Moses.

The Ikot Akpabio day also featured a solemn assembly where Pastor Idorenyin Akpan, a pastor in charge of Ikot Akpabio district of The Apostolic Church, urged the people to hold on to God’s prophesy for their lives as the prophesy of Christ coming was fulfilled many years after.
He read from Isaiah 9:6-7 and Luke 2:10-11.
“In your family a saviour is born, in Ikot Akpabio a saviour is born, love and protect the saviour God has sent to your family and community” he admonished.
Prayers were offered to God for the Chairman, Ikot Akpabio. Akwa Ibom state and the governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD.
