Foundation has been laid for the construction of a youth friendly centre in Etinan by the Akwa Ibom state governor, Pastor Umo Eno,PhD.
The flag off ceremony took place at the Council’s Secretariat, Etinan local government headquarters, Etinan.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources and Sanitation, Hon Ubou E Ubou, PhD was also accompanied by the Commissioner for Power, Rt Hon Iniobong Robson.
Addressing the people of Etinan before the foundation laying ceremony, the governor said the youths friendly centre is first of its kind in Akwa Ibom designed to groom youths to the nation by storm.
He maintained that only through proper grooming that youths will be able to take up leadership position, saying, the centre when completed will be a place where youths can meet and share ideas that will engender growth and development.
He listed the components of the center to include a skill acquisition centre where trained youths will be empowered with starter pack, an ICT hub with free internet services, an e library, pointing out that, the governor is very particular about the youth friendly project.
The state chief executive commended the Chairman of Council, Hon Uko Umoh, for readily making land available for the project.
” Your chairman is doing well and let me tell you that this project is made possible because your chairman made land available. If he continues in this speed, Etinan will continue to benefit from state government’s project
“I call on you to continue in your support for the governor who is very intentional about developing the rural areas. In the 2027 general elections , vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno an all APC Candidates” he concluded.
Earlier in a welcome remarks, the Chairman of Etinan Council, Hon Uko Umoh, said the youths friendly centre is an answer to his prayer for peace and development during his tenure.
He assured the youths that local content law will be strictly adhered to in the execution of the contract thereby creating job opportunities for the people and also promised the governor and the contractor of maximum support throughout the duration of the project.
” I have always said that more developmental projects will come to Etinan and we are seeing it already. All I am asking from you is your support to the administration of Governor Umo Eno for more impactful projects in Etinan local government area”
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon Imaobong Michael, on behalf of the women, Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh, Hon Imo Asanusung and chapter chairman of APC in Etinan, Comrade Israel Tommy who all pledged support and loyalty to the administration of Pastor Umo Eno.
Representative of Geobass Universal Concept Ltd, Mr Ebehge Geoffrey said the company is deeply honoured to handle the project and assured the governor of timely delivery of quality job with the six months time frame.
At the flag off ceremony was the council’s secretary, Hon Idorenyin Udo, councilors and supervisors, Head of Local Government service, Mr. Saviour Okon, the Divisional Police Officer for Etinan CSP Emem Mfon, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Pastor Ubong Inyang and the chapter chairman of APC in Etinan, Comrade Israel Tommy youths and female youth groups.
