Three names have been submitted by Etinan Local Government Council to National OilField Services Limited as Community Liaison Officers (CLO).
They are Mr.Ubong Inyang Tom for Mbioto Ekpene Ituen, Mr. Samuel Ndarake Sampson Effiat Mbioto and Mr Imoh Udomon for Mbioto 2.
Speaking with the Village Heads and Youth Presidents of the three communities in his office, the Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon Uko Umoh, said the coming of the Oil company to Etinan is a blessing to the local government area.
The council boss said the local government decided to intervene in the choice of CLO to avoid a crisis situation where our God given blessing will be turned into a curse.
Hon Umoh reiterated his desire to bring development to the doorsteps of Etinan communities thereby create job opportunities
for our people noting, that cannot happen in an atmosphere of crisis.
He also called on the recommended persons to ensure that the interest of their communities are protected while at the same time carrying everyone along irrespective of who supported or did not support the bid for the position of CLO.
Obong Ubong Bassey Inwang of Mbioto 2 assured the Executive Chairman that his community is not in support of crisis but peace for development to take place.
Eteidung Morrison Ekpene Akpaiti of Efiat Mbioto appreciated the Council’s chairman for prompt intervention to forestall peace in the community.
Obong Emmanuel Elijah Aniema of Mbioto Ekpene Ituen called for a seminar for Village Heads so that their role and responsibilities can be highlighted for them to ensure peace while the operation last.
He commended the chairman for the respect he has for the traditional institution assuring him that peace will be maintained for development to take place.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Etinan Local Government Area, Hon Imaobong Michael,in her remarks called for peace in the community.
On the issue of who recommends a CLO, she likened it to the issuing of certificate of origin where the village Head only recommend while the local government issues the certificate.
The leader of the legislative arm, Hon Ekerete Umoh thanked the Executive Chairman for intervening in the issue and urged all parties to maintain peace going forward.
Responding on behalf of the recommended persons, the dean Mr. Ubong Tom Inyang thanked the Executive Chairman for intervening on time to avert crisis and assured him of their readiness to give good representation of the communities and Etinan local government at large.
The meeting was attended by Heads of Security outfits in Etinan, representatives of Natural OilField Services Limited led by Mr. Ubong Etti with Emem Thomas and Uwakmfon Aquaowo and the Council’s secretary Hon Idorenyin Okon Udo as well as the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Pastor Ubong Inyang.
