Salvation Army Honours Elder Iniobong Obot, Dr. Andy Eyo, Others for Humanitarian Services

A renowned philanthropist, financial expert, and politician, Akparawa (Elder) Iniobong Obot, on Saturday, added another feather to his cap as he was honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence by the Salvation Army, Uyo Central Corps Band.
According to the church, the award was bestowed on the Men’s Leader of the Apostolic Church,Uyo, for his remarkable contributions to society, steadfast commitment to faith, and relentless efforts in impacting humanity.
The award ceremony, held at the Uyo Central Corps of the Church, Udotung Ubo Street, Uyo, was one of the activities marking their “In Profile Night.”
Obot was honoured alongside several other distinguished personalities, including the Chief Executive Officer of the Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS), Dr. Andy Samuel Eyo; the Director and Head of the Directorate of Agricultural Investments at Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Mr. Ofonime Nelson Akpan; a well-traveled diplomat and agriculturalist, Dr. Janet Mfon Bassey; Group Executive Director of African Industries Group, Barr. Uche Bertram Iwuamadi; a university don, Dr. Clement Olusegun; a management consultant, Apostle (Dr.) Nnamdi Mbaigbo; and a public health expert, Dr. Nkereuwem Akpan Etok, among others.
In his welcome speech, Bandmaster Joseph M. Akpan thanked all the distinguished guests who took the time to celebrate with the church on this remarkable milestone in its existence.
He noted that the church’s various charity projects have brought them closer to many kind-hearted individuals who have also dedicated their lives to serving humanity, providing aid, and rescuing the less privileged, one of them being the Nsit Atai-born technocrat, Akparawa Iniobong Obot.
While receiving his award, Obot, who is also the National Youth Leader of the Uyo Senatorial District People’s Initiative (USPI), expressed pride and delight in being deemed worthy of the recognition. He emphasized that philanthropy has become his life’s passion, a commitment he pursues selflessly without seeking earthly rewards.
The Apostolic Church elder, while thanking the Salvation Army for creating many positive impacts in the body of Christ, urged youths to take centre stage in matters of the Lord, stating that the future of the church belongs to the youth.

“This is not the first time I am receiving an award of this nature. However, this one is very close to my heart, especially since it reflects the core reason for my existence and my deepest passion. It is not about money, and for this, I thank the Salvation Army,” Obot stated.
Quoting 1 Timothy 2:1-2, which states, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness,” Elder Obot appealed to the church and other religious organizations in Akwa Ibom to pray for and intensify their support for the State Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D, and the ARISE Agenda.
The Deputy Political Leader of Eastern Nsit, Ward 6, Nsit Atai LGA, dedicated the award to his wife, Mrs. Edidiong Obot and daughter, Amaris, who accompanied him to the ceremony, as well as all people of goodwill.

Peller says agberos more than guests at his traditional wedding
TikToker, Peller, has alleged that several incidents, including phone thefts and a road accident, occurred outside the venue of his traditional wedding, saying the events disrupted guests despite the celebration taking place inside.
Peller made the claims while speaking during a livestream, where he reflected on what he described as the chaotic atmosphere around the venue on the day of the ceremony.
According to the content creator, he wants his white wedding to be different from the traditional ceremony because of the incidents that reportedly happened outside the event.
“No worry, my white wedding no go be like the way una do that day. Na so I see one video wey car go jam one guy,” he said.
According to Peller, what was meant to be a joyful celebration was overshadowed by reports of phone thefts and confusion outside the venue, incidents he blamed on suspected hoodlums popularly known as agberos.
“Agbero don occupy Lagos. No be small. Agbero plenty pass guests wey come to my wedding. Agbero plenty outside. People wey come say dem dey snatch their phones. Una know how many phone I don pay for?” he said.
He claimed one female guest had her phone stolen shortly after arriving at the venue.
“One girl, as she reach, na so dem snatch her phone for gate. Dem run away,” he alleged.

Peller also recalled learning about a reported accident while he was inside the hall celebrating.
“Me wey I dey inside hall dey do my wedding, na so them say I kill person.
“Agbero stay for front of car. Them say comot, he no gree. The car owner vex con jam am,” he said.

Ibom Entertainer’s Forum In Etinan Gets New Executive Members
The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon Uko Umoh, has announced Mr Nelson Nseabasi as his Special Assistant on entertainment.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of new Etinan chapter officers of Ibom Entertainer’ s Forum on Friday,5th September 2025.

The inauguration of the new executive which took place at the Millennium Hall of the Council also featured a presentation of award and entertainment outfit to the Chairman.
Inaugurating the new chapter executive members, the International President of Ibom Entertainer’s Forum, Mr. David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom) applauded the chairman for being accessible, simple and showing capacity in running the affairs of the local government area.

David Sergeant who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on entertainment thanked the governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, for appointing 9 special assistants in entertainment describing it, as first in history not only in Akwa Ibom but Nigeria as a whole.
“Ibom Entertainer’s Forum in Etinan will promote, project and protect your interest going forward” he added.
In a goodwill message, Mr. God-fada Uko thanked the chairman, Hon Uko Umoh, for going the extra mile to ensure the inauguration ceremony is a huge success.
He charged the new executive members to be up and doing in order to make Etinan the best in terms of entertainment. ” Go into the rural communities and bring out entertainers to showcase to the world”

In his acceptance speech, comrade Ubong Ikpe, assured all that his executive will make Etinan around. “The mantle that has been handed to us we will not let Etinan and Akwa Ibom down”
In his goodwill message, the chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon Uko Umoh, assured Ibom Entertainer’s Forum of his willingness to work with them in promoting the rich cultural heritage of the people of Etinan local government area.
“I therefore urge the new executive members of the forum in Etinan to lead with the fear of God, integrity and transparency as these will boost the confidence of entertainers in the leadership”
The inauguration ceremony was witnessed by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh, Deputy Leader, Hon Abasifreke Noah, Hon Deborah Umana and Hon Ndianabasi John.
The Dean of Supervisors, Hon Tony Eboh, Hon Emmanuel Sampson and Hon Solomon Akpan.
The 21 member executive includes, Comrade Ubong Ikpe, coordinator, Ofonime Okosi deputy Coordinator, Fenno Okon, secretary, Nsikak Umoh assistant secretary.

Others are Etienne Orok Treasurer, Imefon Aniekan Financial secretary, Ubong Isaac as the auditor, MMandu as Woman Leader 1, Ekaette Daniel woman Leader 2, Anietie Johnson Youth Leader 1, Emmanuel Attat Youth Leader 2, Ubong Umoh Director of Publicity, Mfon Inyang Organizing Secretary, Idongesit Effiong Director of mobilization, Offonime Dan Welfare 1, Idongesit Tom Welfare 2.
Richard Charles Provost, Sgt. Sunday Ekpah Ex Officio, Akparawa Ibanga Itat Ex Officio, Mandu Bassey Special Adviser and Joshua Jonah Robert.

Chioma remembers late Son, Ifeanyi after wedding banquet
Chioma Adeleke, wife of singer Davido, has taken to social media to pay tribute to her late son, Ifeanyi, who died in October 2022.
On her Instagram page on Thursday, Chioma shared photos of her wedding bouquet with Ifeanyi’s image pinned to it. She captioned the post,, “My best friend walked me into forever…. Ify, you’re on my mind every day and you live in my heart. Always and forever. Love, mummy.”
Davido, who also honoured Ifeanyi at their wedding by wearing cufflinks engraved with his son’s image, responded to her post with the words, “Till Infinity.”
Ifeanyi, the couple’s first child together, passed away at three years old after drowning in a swimming pool at the family’s Banana Island residence in Lagos. The tragedy shocked fans across Nigeria and beyond, sparking an outpouring of sympathy for the celebrity couple.
Davido and Chioma sealed their love story with an extravagant white wedding in Miami on August 10, 2025, the final chapter of three ceremonies following their court marriage in March 2023 and traditional wedding in Lagos in June 2024
