500 STUDENTS OF ETINAN ORIGIN TO RECEIVE BURSARY FROM COUNCIL
Etinan Local Government Council has concluded plans to pay bursary to students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The chairman of Council, Hon Uko Umoh, disclosed this at the commissioning of Government Model School Ikot Isong, Etinan Local Government Area.
According to him, 500 students have been captured for the payment while 20 medical and 20 law students will be given N300,000.00 each ( Three Hundred thousand naira) under the education grant to students of his administration.
Speaking further, the chairman who described himself as a brand manager announced the production of 20,000 copies of exercise books to be shared to all primary schools in the local government and 250 pieces of uniform for pupils of the Model School.
He also hinted that teachers of Government Model School, Ikot Isong, have also been given uniforms courtesy of his administration giving them a unique appearance.
The chairman thanked the governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, whom he described as a faithful father and lover of education.
“Not too long ago you commissioned Ibom Paint Industry here in Etinan and now we are here to commission the best model school in the state.
“Your Excellency, this is where I obtained my First School Leaving Certificate some years ago. As chairman of Council, I visited this school and the head teacher told me of the challenges in the school only for you to intervene and give us a school environment similar to what is obtained anywhere in the world. Etinan is happy with your performance as governor of Akwa Ibom State”
In an overview of the facilities put in place by government in the school, the Commissioner for Education Prof Ubong Umoh said the school is fenced round with a gate house, complete with such facilities like a computer laboratory, library, sick bay complete with first aid kits with a nurse in attendance, classes for those in early child care with all modern facilities, classrooms with the right pupil -teacher ratio, master class auditorium that can contain 500 pupils, staff quarters, water supply, a play ground and a football field.
“Your Excellency, this school is powered not by generators or public power supply but has it electricity source from solar panel. This is indeed a model that can only be identified with you anywhere in the world.”
Goodwill messages from the representative of Etinan state Constituency, Hon Uduak Ekpo-Ufot, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom SAN, Isantim Kenneth Okon, Otuekong Sunny Jackson Udoh and the Paramount Ruler of Etinan,His Royal Majesty, Edidem Aniefiok Monday Akpan Obong who all thanked the governor for making education a priority and giving Etinan a conducive teaching a d learning environment.
Governor Umo Eno was represented by his Political Adviser Prince Godwin Ntukudeh PhD who said the desire for qualitative education has been satisfied under the administration of Pastor Umo Eno. According to him the quality of infrastructure and facilities at the model school speak of quality that will produce first class products from the local government area.
