Obong Emmanuel C.O Akpan holds the traditional title of ‘Akpan Afaha’ worldwide and ‘Obong Ekpe Afaha’ is the son of a foremost traditional and political leader, Late Obong Bishop Dr. Cyrinus O.Akpan.
His formal presentation to Mbioto Obio Council of Chiefs took place on Thursday (Edereobo) July 16, 2026 where the Village Head of Mbioto Obio, Eteidung Efiong Ebong Akpan Etuk conferred on him the full right of a council member.
“Mbioto Council of Chiefs has accepted and recognized you today as a family head. He has the full right to participate in the selection process of a new village head as a kingmaker”
Eteidung Akpan Etuk while calling on the new family head to join other sons of Mbioto Obio in rebuilding their land especially in the ongoing construction of a Town Hall for the community, recalled the role played by the ancestors of the new family head.
“His grandfather was the deputy village head of Mbioto Obio, an outspoken member of the community who contributed immensely to the development of this community.
“His father, Late Obong Dr. C.O Akpan was also a deputy village head who served the community meritoriously. He was the ‘Essang Mbioto’.

“I call on the new family head and other sons of Mbioto to rise up and build the Jerusalem of their fathers so that this village will be counted among communities in Iman Ibom.
Let love lead, and may wisdom prevail” he prayed.
In his response, the new family head, Obong Emmanuel C.O Akpan, thanked the village head for keeping the community together as one since the death of his father.
He paid special tribute to his late father, describing him as a man who would give up everything for the sake of his family and community.
“It would have been a disservice to allow the family to collapse after his demise. We are all one and nothing will ever change our relationship. Mbioto has come a long way, what I want is the best for the community”

He called on parents to send their children to school for a brighter future for the community. He also frowned at youth engagement in crime saying, it is a reputational risk for the community.
“Put your energy into something productive and praiseworthy. What you learn today and put it to use for decent earnings stays with you forever”
Goodwill messages were received from the deputy family head, Supol Ime Okon rtd, Elder Johnson Okon Akpan and Obonawan Ofonmbuk Cletus Okon who all praised the compassionate nature of the new family head.
“He is a compassionate leader who does not discriminate but looks at everyone with love

In a vote of thanks, Obong (Surv) Unwana C.O Akpan described the new family head as a unique person with special love for his people.
“He is a carbon copy of his late father. A great supporter who has stood firm with the family. He is not difficult to approach. The main motive is to build Mbioto and it is my belief that after today, we will witness a mighty change”
