Hon Uko Umoh Attends Security Town Hall Meeting in Uyo

The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon. (Dr) Uko Umoh, was among stakeholders who attended a security stakeholders meeting convened by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.
The Town Hall meeting was convened for the Uyo Area Command made up of Uyo, Etinan, Nsit Ibom and Nsit Ubuim Local Government Areas.
In a goodwill message, Hon. Uko Umoh, assured the police formation in Akwa Ibom State of the cooperation of his administration towards the maintainance of peace and security in Etinan local government area.
Hon Uko Umoh said Etinan local government has been peaceful just as Akwa Ibom state due to the proactive steps taken by his administration and support to the Divisional Police Officer in Etinan.
He commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, for the reforms undertaken by his leadership to reposition the police force for effective policing in the state which has yielded positive result.
In an interactive session, the Commissioner of Police stated that the Town Hall meeting was to foster collaboration and address security concerns in Akwa Ibom state.
The Police Boss admitted that although there are bad eggs in the force, there are measures put in place to address misconduct of police officers.
He stressed that extortion or bribe is not acceptable and urged members of the public to report any officer who compels members of the public to give bribe.
“If you are compelled to give bribe, please report him immediately. Don’t be involved in issues that are not legitimate like carrying of arms. As a youth leader ensure there is peace in your community. Do things that are established in law. Don’t take laws into your hands” he advised.
CP Azare disclosed that Alternative Dispute Resolution centre has been established in the force to handle issues without going to court. “We don’t entertain civil matters like dispute between brothers, husband and wife and land issues.
