POLICE RECOVERS FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION FROM SUSPECTED CULTISTS IN OBOT AKARA

Two indigenes of Ikpe Usung Ita, Obot Akara Local Government have been arrested by operatives of Akwa Ibom state police command for cult related crimes.

They suspects are Emmanuel Udo Ukut, 41yrs and Marshall Asuquo John, 42yrs were apprehended on Monday, August 25, 2025, at approximately 0400 hours.

The suspects according to a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, were apprehended during a targeted operation to recover stolen phones and arrest individuals linked to the crime.

A search of the suspects led to the recovery of several items, including:

* One single-barrel den gun

* Three live cartridges

* one expanded cartridge

* A black beret with cult insignia

* A black hood suspected to be used as a facemask

* A black belt

* Three mobile phones: a Tecno Spark 30, a Vivo Y15s, and a small Itel phone

* A black nylon bag containing substance suspected to be gunpowder

The two suspects are currently in police custody.
Investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated.
