Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, has given assurance that omitted villages and clans in the state will be recognized by the government.
The governor stated this at the closing ceremony of the EXCO Ministerial Briefing/End of the Year Review held at Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo, following a request by the President General of Akwa Ibom Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Edidem Ntenyin Solomon Etuk.
The governor declared that action will be taken once the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs submits report on the issue to him
Pastor Umo Eno also announced employment opportunities in the health sector but stressed the need to fill up existing vacancies from a pool available at the employment portal of the state government.
He also urged the Ministry of Health to give incentive to health workers willing to serve in remote areas of the state to boost their morale.
On the success of the EXCO Ministerial Briefing/End of the Year Review, the governor said it was in line with his belief in accountability, inclusiveness as well bring government closer to the people.
He also announced Town Hall Meetings in 2025 to be held in each of the ten Federal Constituencies where government will reel out its achievements in respective Federal Constituencies as well as receive from the people what they want from government which will form input for 2026 budget.
In their separate remarks at the closing ceremony, leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob,Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien (Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District) and the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi all applauded the governor for the great initiative to throw government business open to the public, assuring the governor that the people will reward him in 2027.
