For more than four hours the President of the Nigerian Senate, Chief Godswill Akpabio, was the topic of discussion among Nigerians on social media over his irresponsible comment as regards the planned national protest.
Senator Godswill Akpabio had during a meeting with NDDC officials in Port Harcourt, Rivers State made reference to the planned protest by saying while the protesters will be on the street, government officials will be eating and enjoying in their homes.
Reacting to the comment on X social media platform formerly Twitter, Nigerians berated the Senate president for being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians over the economic hardship and woes the government of President Bola Tinubu has plunged the nation in the last one year.
Coming with the hashtag #Akpabiomustgo# Nigerians described the Senate President as the worst in the history of the nation especially since the return of democracy 25 years ago.
For a commentator with the user name @Miniko_jnr the resignation of senator Akpabio from the exalted number three seat has become one of the demands of the protesters “Akpabio must go* should be among our non negotiable demands, who is with me?”
Peter Otor with the user name @iampeterotor in his reply said Chief Akpabio is one of the worst leaders of all time.
For Shamuwa Co with the username @Umar_Tals Senator Akpabio is one of the most heartless and incompetent man Nigerian House of assembly ever put on the senate president seat.
El Excelente with username @ Excelenteø Akpabio has mocked Nigerians long enough to leave the stage. “This man resignation is our number request on the #protest list . He have (sic) mocked us enough. Starting from sending prayers to their inbox and making mockery of allow the poor to breathe. Now he will be eating while we are protesting” The comment reads.
A commentator with the name FAAREES @mfaarees_ tweeted Godswill Akpabio is the worst Senate President Nigeria has ever seen, imagine saying this nonsense after putting our country in all these hardships.

The list of those complaining of Senator Godswill Akpabio’s uncouth tongue continues with over 14,000 comments on X platform alone.
Senator Akpabio has continued to being ridicule to the seat with his untamed tongue since assumption of office. Just few days ago he apologized to senator Natasha for saying the Senate chambers was not a nightclub where one talks with out recognition. After series of backlash he had to apologize to the senator who happens to be a woman.
It is rather unfortunate that while some leaders are calling for understanding of Nigerians with the leadership of the country at all levels, the Senate President by is vantage position is inciting the people to go ahead with the protest with irresponsible and insensitive statement credited to his person.
