After the official flag off of the free food distribution under the Akwa Ibom Bulk Purchase Agency, the people of Southern Iman ward 5 in Etinan Local Government Area are the latest beneficiaries.

The distribution of the vouchers was done by the Personal Assistant to the governor for the ward, Evangelist Aniefiok Nyong Titus at Mbioto Ekpene Ituen Civic Centre.

It would be recalled that after the flag off exercise by the state governor at the popular Itam market in Itu Local Government Area, the governor had given marching order to chairmen of local government Transition committees to do same in their respective areas.

Presenting the vouchers to beneficiaries from the eight villages that make up Southern Iman ward 5, the governor’s aide, Evangelist Aniefiok Nyong Titus explained in details how the process is carried out which also involves capturing of both the issued vouchers and the face of the receiver of the vouchers.

Evangelist Titus informed the people that the list to be used is from the social register of 2018 calling on the people to always key into government’s directive to avoid regrets in the future.

“When they say write names try and cooperate with whosoever comes to carry out that exercise because something good can come out of it in the future.”

He called on the people to heed the governor’s call on the people to return to the farm as a permanent solution to hunger and starvation.

Also speaking, the chairman of PDP in southern Iman ward 5 Pastor Anietie Ekpo commended the governor for initiating the free food distribution in the state.

He also added his voice to that of the governor in urging the people to embrace agriculture as a way of life that will deliver us from hunger.

” I have been saying and will continue to say that the permanent solution to this food crisis is for all of us to collectively go back to the farm”

Meanwhile beneficiaries have poured encomiums on the governor for putting on his thinking cap at a time like this to look for solution to the food crisis in the state in particular and the country in general.

Mr. Ime Monday Oton while appreciating the governor for the distributed vouchers commended him for the transparent manner the exercise was carried out.

Eteidung Morrison Ekpene Akpaeti, village head of Effiat Mbioto thanked the governor for ensuring that food items meant for the people are not diverted along the way.

On his part Obong Monday Clinton Ekefre said the gesture by the governor is first in history and commended him for writing his name in gold in the heart of the people through his compassionate style of leadership.
