You are an epitome of people-centric leadership” Law School Students Tell Federal Lawmaker

The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, has encouraged Law students from Akwa Ibom state to be focused, go through the learning process, practice the profession and uphold its sanctity.

Idem gave the charge when members of the Law Students Association of Nigeria, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District from the University of Uyo, paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Uyo.

According to the lawmaker, “I’ve observed that some of you, after your studies abandon the noble law profession to sharp practices that belittle your status, just for immediate gains.

So, I am urging you to be studious, come out with flying colours and practice the law profession and uphold its sanctitiy. It’s a noble course.”

It’s also not a bad idea to venture into other fields like public service if you choose to, as contributing your quota is critical to the development of the society. This is better than abandoning your prestigious profession to venture into what is not even as befitting of your status as lawyers.”

The Law Students Association, led by its National President, Comrade Joseph Boaz, and the Secretary, Comrade Godsfavour Marcus, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the words of advice and promised to be great ambassadors of the Senatorial District and the profession.

Highlight of the visit was the award of “Lawmaker of the Year” on Rep. Idem by the Law students, following what they describe as “impactful representation which is seen in your numerous empowerment programmes for youths, women, physically challenged persons, and support for the elderly.”

They added that the federal lawmaker has “redefined effective representation and has stood out as an epitome of people-centric leadership.”
