Staff and elected officials of Etinan Local Government Area have been charged to shun envy, pull-me-down tendencies and be like-minded for speedy development of the area.

Members of the newly inaugurated Eighth Etinan Legislature were also encouraged to bring synergy to bear amongst the arms of Etinan Local Government Council.

The call was handed down by the Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council, Hon. Uko Umoh during the first Etinan Solemn Assembly held today at the Millennium Hall, Etinan Local Government Secretariat, Etinan.

Hon. Uko Umoh reminded the officials and Staff of the Local Government Council that without unity and love, development, advancement and progress elope a people.

He told the Staff of Etinan Local Government Council that he employed leniency in his conduct today mentioning that the inaugural prayer event was a 50/50 engagement.

The chairman added that he will not condone any sort of lateness from Staff or Council officials to any government event in Etinan revealing that he was only before now acting as a Transition Chairman.

“We have to bring in everything Executive in the new scheme of things in this Local Government Area. Before now, I was serving Etinan in the capacity of a Transition Chairman”

This time around I will not accept excuses because transition is different from executive. So we have to do something as Executive. In a month or so, I will gather everybody in Etinan Local Government Area in a thanksgiving”, he said.

He continued by thanking the Staff of Etinan Local Government Council for their prayers and clamour for him to return as the Executive Chairman of Etinan.

The Chief Security Officer of Etinan Local Government Council also thanked members of the Eighth Etinan Legislature for coming to the event earlier before he arrived.

“You were there for me, you prayed for me and even when I stepped aside as the Transition Chairman, you people clamoured, prayed and wanted me to come back as your chairman. I know almost all of you wanted me back as your chairman”

If I was doing a wrong thing, I would not be here. God has answered our prayers and I am back as Executive Chairman of Etinan”, Umoh reiterated.

He reassured the Council staff of a robust working relationship and promised the Eighth Etinan Legislature of an unadulterated engagement to further Etinan to the top.

The Chairman particularly mentioned the fixing of the Etinan Legislative Chambers in no time as his priority while also revealing that the Staff Canteen will soon experience remodeling.

He also mentioned, amongst other things that his idea of governance in Etinan is to delegate duties to committees even as he said that he is yearning to show Etinan people that governance is not as difficult as one thinks.

Earlier in an exhortation, Pastor Unwana Jackson, admonished staff of Etinan Local Government Council to be light bearers.

Jackson who is the Uyo Field Evangelist of The Apostolic Church, Nigeria, mentioned that the number thing that light does is it gives direction.

According to him, everyone put in position of authority is a Light Bearer stating that from Hon. Uko Umoh to the least staff the Local Government Council are Light Bearers.

“In each and every one of you seated here depending on your department, you have a light in your hands. You’re also a contact, you’re also a director, you’re also a leader”

It is not for one person. We’re all teaming to support our leader who carries a bigger light. As he is carrying his light, also carry your light where you’re positioned”, Pastor Jackson noted.

The Man of God who preached on the topic “We Are Light Bearers” admonished all who are in possession of light to show the right direction adding that any person who fails to show a good direction is a problem to the society and to Etinan Local Government.

The Apostolic Church Nigeria Evangelist who backed his exhortation from 2nd Samuel, chapter 21 verse 15 and 16 said light exposes the bad and that all Light Carriers should be ready to expose ills.

“As you are a Bearer of Light in your various departments, understand that you don’t have to seat on someone’s progress. Remember that even though you succeed in impeding anyone’s advancement, you won’t take his or her position”

As a light bearer, always endeavour to hide yourself under God’s protection. No one is bigger than the protection of God. Find time to always shield yourself from the handiwork of the world “, the Man of God concluded.
