New Dawn Micro Insurance Opens In Uyo

New Dawn Micro-Insurance, a pioneering financial protection provider for low-income earners and underserved populations has been launched in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

Established in 2022, the company has positioned itself as a critical player in the micro-insurance sector, aiming to establish financial security for low paid persons and SMEs across the state.

The official launch of the micro insurance company took place at Watbridge Hotel in Uyo on Wednesday 4th September 2024.

In his keynote address, the Managing Director of New Dawn Microinsurance, Mr. Inemesit Ekanem, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering financially excluded persons in Akwa Ibom State. “At New Dawn Microinsurance, we believe that access to affordable, customer-centric insurance is a fundamental right for every individual, irrespective of their financial status. Our goal is to provide policies that secure the future of underserved communities, helping them build resilience against life’s uncertainties,” he stated.

Mr. Ekanem also highlighted the company’s diverse range of products, including the New Dawn Property and Shop Protection Plan, the New Dawn Wheelers Policy for Keke and motorcycle riders, the New Dawn Credit Life Policy for microfinance borrowers, and the New Dawn Group and Personal Accident Plan. Each product is designed to provide low-income earners with tailored protection against common risks, from property damage to accidents and disability.

He added that New Dawn Microinsurance is located at No. 2 Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, and that members of the public are welcome from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to do business with them.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Emmanuel Okon, CEO of Eminence Oil, applauded the initiative, stressing the importance of Micro-Insurance in cushioning the effects of economic downturns on vulnerable populations. “New Dawn Micro-Insurance is coming at a time when financial protection is no longer a luxury but a necessity for survival in today’s unpredictable world,” Mr. Okon remarked. He urged Akwa Ibom people, particularly small businesses, traders, and transport operators, to embrace Micro-Insurance as a vital tool for financial security.

Barr. Akaninyene Ben, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, also spoke at the event, expressing his pride in the company’s mission. He reinforced New Dawn’s promise to become the preferred Micro-Insurance provider by offering excellent services and delivering robust returns to all stakeholders. “We are not just here to sell insurance; we are here to make a difference by empowering people to safeguard their futures,” Barr. Ben added.

A notable highlight of the event was the interactive question-and-answer session, where attendees expressed their concerns and curiosities regarding Micro-Insurance. Guests, including members of the Keke Riders and Owners Association, led by Mr. Johnson Jackson, were eager to learn more about how New Dawn’s products could benefit their organization. Mr. John James, the Honorable Commissioner for Trade and Investment, also graced the event, underscoring the government’s support for initiatives that boost economic resilience among Akwa Ibom’s low-income population.

Guests at the event included the Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Media, Mr. Ernest E. Akpan, Comrade Amos Etuk, State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, representatives from cooperative organizations, various unions across the state, and top government functionaries.
