Workers in the employ of the Adamawa state government will begin to enjoy the new national minimum wage with effect from August 2024.

Their counterparts in the employ of local government will have theirs implemented from September 2024.

The state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) Comrade Emmanuel Fashe revealed this in an interaction with newsmen shortly after meeting with Governor Ahmadu Fintri in Government House.

Fashe explained that the template to be used is the consequential adjustment deployed in 2019, pending the release of the table from National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC).

He stated that “whatever the workers were getting as the present national minimum wage of N32,000, as it applies to Adamawa state, that same will be applied in terms of percentages in the implementation of the new national minimum wage”

The labour leader applauded the state governor who has shown great interest in the welfare of workers in the state hence the implementation of the new national minimum wage even before the release of the timetable by NSIWC.
