Mbioto Youths celebrate Godwin Owonam’s appointment as board of trustees member for OML 13
The appointment of Elder Godwin Johnny Owonam as a member of the board of trustees of OML 13 has continued to excite well meaning sons of Mbioto community.
OML 13 is an oil licence acquired by Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited in partnership with SUMEDHA Energy Limited (SEL) and is operating in 14 local government areas in Akwa Ibom state.
The youths expressed joy that an indigene of the community is on the board despite Mbioto location being the last of the locations explored by the company.
Conveying the state of mind of the youths, the youth president of Mbioto Ekpene Ituen, Comrade Idongesit Ubom, said the youths are excited that God made it possible for an indigene of the area to be so appointed into the board.
“We are solidly behind you and we appreciate this appointment wholeheartedly. We are here to congratulate you and thank you for accepting to serve the interest of Mbioto community”
Also speaking, the youth leader of Mbioto 2, Comrade Sunday Etukudo, said the youths are grateful at the position God has raised the community. “We are ready to work with you for the development of our community”
In his submission the youth president of Efiat Mbioto, Comrade Daniel Ekpene, said the youths will give you full support to succeed in that office.
“Whatever support you need from youths of this community will be given to you in full”
The youths also placed a demand on their board of trustees member to look into the issue of employment and skill development in the community in order to build the capacity of the youths for future opportunities.
Goodwill messages also came from the chairman of the oil committee of the community, Surv. Idongesit Udofot, Obong Ibanga Clinton, Obong Emmanuel Elijah Aniema, Akparawa Ubong Okoh, Mr Anietie Sunday Akpan, Mr. Ubong Ubom, Mr.Samuel Edor who all appreciated the appointment of Elder Godwin Owonam into a position that will further the development of Mbioto community.
They described him as a round peg in a round hole having garnered over three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, a professional accountant and the current chairman of Taxation Association of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom state branch.
Responding, Elder Godwin Owonam thanked the youths for identifying with him and coming out as one body to congratulate him on the appointment.
He assured them that their interest is paramount to him and with his experience he will not let the company short change the youth for any reason.
He informed them that no matter new inventions, oil remains a profitable venture that will benefit the community in the long run.
The nine member Board of Trustee for OML 13 is headed by Ekpris Urujzian from Eastern Obolo Local Government Area.
The board is the highest decision making body according to the Petroleum Industrial Act 2022.
