The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon (Dr) Uko Umoh, has extended a hand of fellowship to members of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Etinan chapter, urging them to join him in restoring the glory of the local government area.
Speaking when the leadership of the foremost youth group paid him a courtesy call in his office, the chairman urged the youth leadership structure to join him in building the Etinan local government of our collective dreams.
Dr. Uko Umoh said he was happy to receive them and work with them saying, he sees future leaders of the local government seated among them.
He assured them that the local government council under his leadership will look into their demands and see what can be done to get the new executive up on its feet.
” I am inviting you to join me in changing the narrative in Etinan local government area.
The ongoing Continous Voter’s Registration is an opportunity to show your willingness to work with us. Mobilize more people to register as voters so that we can deliver bloc and overwhelming votes for our governor who is from Etinan Federal Constituency”
Earlier, the coordinator National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Ikakke Lawson, had informed the chairman that NYCN is an apex youth coordinating body in Nigeria with a mission to amplify youth voices and drive positive change to the lives of youths in our communities.
Comrade Lawson commended the zeal and passion of the chairman for development in Etinan as seen in the construction of an ultra modern motor park, restoration of electricity and potable water in our rural communities.
The youth body appealed for support in the area of monthly stipends to members of the youth council, utility bus for official events and community outreach, office space and equipment, training and capacity building programme and funding for community projects- youth led initiative.
In a related development, members of Uko Iman Bike Riders Association were also in the chairman’s office to congratulate him on the recent award of an honorary doctorate degree by London Bridge Business School, United Kingdom describing the honor as well deserved.
The group led by Isaac Godwin Inyang said members of Uko Iman Bikers Association are firm believers of a New Iman is Possible and appealed to the chairman to accommodate them in his programmes.
Responding the Chairman, Hon (Dr) Uko Umoh, expressed joy at the visit describing it as first of its kind from actors in the non formal sector.
He appealed to them to be vigilant in their respective communities and help the local government and security agencies in tracking criminals within our communities.
“As motorcyclists, you are in better position to know when a strange face is within the community, relate suspicious movement and persons to us and your identity will be protected.”
