Three Akwa Ibom sons are set to undergo a 5-day intensive training on “Digital Innovation and Public Procurement Law for Effective Legislative Oversight and Compliance Monitoring” as sponsored by Rt. Hon Unyime Idem.
The training which is taking place in Kigali, Rwanda is part of the lawmaker’s intention to train 100 Akwa Ibom people in digital innovation skill to be relevant in today’s world.
In a post on his Facebook page, the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam lawmaker noted that the training is in line with his avowed commitment to empower the youths for self-sufficiency and global competitiveness.
“The first batch of three Akwa Ibomites will depart Nigeria on Sunday to Kigali, Rwanda, for an all-expense paid 5-day intensive training on “Digital Innovation and Public Procurement Law for Effective Legislative Oversight and Compliance Monitoring.”
According to the post, the lawmaker made it clear that the gesture is to equip and raise the next generation of leaders in the state.
“I reminded them that the world is a global village, so there’s need for them to be exposed to modern technology to be able to compete with their counterparts globally, so wherever they have an opportunity to work, they will not lag behind.
“I’ve taken this step because what is helping me today to do what I’m able to do and achieve is the level of training and exposure I’ve garnered over the years across the globe, and it is my desire that they will do better than me”
Idem who is the House of Representatives’ chairman on public procurement announced that the training will be done periodically in order to achieve the 100 targeted number”
He advised them to be of good conduct as an ambassador of Akwa Ibom state and the country, Nigeria.”
“As a participant in the training, you’re entitled to a travelling allowance, but beyond that, your experience there will put you on a pedestal to compete favourably with your counterparts across the globe.”
“I wish you a safe stay throughout the training period and journey mercies, to and from Kigali, Rwanda. Congratulations.”
