ETINAN LOCAL COUNCIL HOLDS DECEMBER’S SOLEMN ASSEMBLY AS CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR UNITY AMONG IMAN IBOM PEOPLE
The Etinan Local Government Area held its December 2024 Solemn Assembly at the Millennium Hall, Etinan Council Secretariat.
The event was marked by prayers, thanksgiving, and a renewed call for unity and collective effort toward human development.
Addressing the assembly, the Executive Chairman of Etinan LGA, Hon. Uko Umoh, expressed gratitude to the councilors for their support, particularly during the Etinan Christmas Day celebration.
He assured them of a strengthened working relationship between the executive and legislative arms to accelerate development in the area.
Hon. Umoh reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the interest of Etinan Local Government in all dealings. He promised a conducive working environment for staff and pledged that contractors would commence projects in January 2025, aimed at giving Etinan a “new face” under God’s guidance.
He also assured council staff that their welfare would remain a top priority. While encouraging them to maintain high work ethics, he warned that appropriate sanctions would be applied to erring staff to ensure discipline and accountability in service delivery.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Mercy Ntekim urged staff to pray for the council chairman and his team.
She emphasized the importance of divine guidance in leadership and called on everyone to offer prayers for the progress of the council.
The guest preacher of the Apostolic Church, Etinan, Elder Andrew Okon Andrew delivered a sermon on the theme “Good Leadership.” Drawing inspiration from 2 Samuel 21:15-17.
He described a good leader as a servant of the people and prayed for God’s blessings, protection, and guidance for the leadership and staff of the council. He further advised the council chairman, officials, and staff to always seek refuge under God’s protection, referencing 2 Samuel 5:17, which highlights the attacks that light-bearers may face.
The Leader of the Legislative Chamber, Hon. Ekerette Umoh, in a vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the guest preacher for sharing the word of God and praying for the council’s leadership and staff. He also appreciated God for His protection throughout 2024 and prayed for continuous blessings in the year ahead.
Those in attendance included the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Imaobong Michael; the Secretary, Hon. Idorenyin Okon; the Chief of Staff, Pastor Ubong Inyang; councilors; directors; heads of departments; and staff of the council.
The event concluded with renewed hope for a prosperous new year, as the council leadership and staff rededicated themselves to unity, partnership, and human development.
