The Etinan Legislative Council has assured the executive arm under the leadership of Honourable Uko Umoh of full support in the actualisation of his vision for the local government
At a breakfast meeting held at the Ikot Akpabio country home of the Executive Chairman, the councilors expressed their desire to bring development to their respective communities and wards.
Opening the floor for his colleagues, the leader of the legislative arm, Hon Ekerete Umoh said there is only one chairman of Etinan Local Government Area in the person of Honorable Uko Umoh and that all the councilors are ready to work with him to achieve his lofty goals for the area.
“You have the ambition and the vision for the Local Government and we will work with you to actualize the vision for Etinan”
Honourable Idongesit Sunday Ikpe representing Southern Iman ward 2 said he wanted a legacy that he can show to his children at the end of his tenure.
” I need a legacy to show that it was during the time I served as councilor that we were able to achieve this in the local government.
“Our policy today must give you a smooth ride into your second term in office. We will support what will bring development and progress to Etinan Local Government Area” he declared.
To Honourable Idara Sambo, one of the four female councillors in Etinan, it was a declaration of total support and loyalty to the leadership of the council for even development. ” We are not here to fight with you but to join your efforts to bring development to our communities. You have the green pen and we cannot fight a man under authority”
Honourable Obot Uko of Northern Iman ward 2 confirmed the support of councilors to the Executive Chairman for a lasting legacy in the Local Government Area.
Honourable Ime Abraham Nyong of Southern Iman Ward 1 called on the chairman to act as the mother hen by shielding the councilors against political hawks.
” We want to end our tenure gloriously. Our humility is not a pretense and our loyalty is 100%” he declared.
Honourable Ndianabasi John of Urban IV described the chairman as one who came to build men and develop the land of Iman pointing out that, he has started well and will end well.
The Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council, Honourable Abasifreke Noah was optimistic that the Uko Umoh’s led administration will achieve so much for the people of Iman considering the firm steps he has so far taken since assumption of office.
He called on the chairman to discountenance rumour and believe in the resolve of the councilors to work with him for the development of the Local Government Area.
Honourable Imaobong Effiong Okon, Honourable Deborah Umanah and Honourable Diana Mbat all took turn to assure the council chairman of a smooth administration with the full support of the councilors.
In a remark a political stalwart from Northern Iman ward 2, Obong Emmanuel Titus called on the councilors to part of history that is about to be made in Etinan Local Government Area under the leadership of Honorable Uko Umoh.
“The chairman is simple but firm in his decision. When you give him a comfortable environment to work, his success will spread to your respective wards and you will be part of the positive history in the Local Government Area”
Also speaking, the Political Leader of Northern Iman ward 2, Obong Donald Uko described democracy as the best system of government that gives everyone opportunity.
“Today it is the turn of Northern Iman ward 2, tomorrow it may be the turn of your ward, support Honourable Uko Umoh today so that tomorrow we will also support you.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Honourable Uko Umoh appreciated the councilors for coming together in the best interest of the local government.
He called on them to put their legislative powers to work and ensure that there are check and balance in the running of the administration.
“We have a lot to do in Etinan. I want everyone’s name to be written in gold. We must spread governance so that it can reach everyone including those without access to the chairman.
He used the opportunity to announce that the council will soon set up a humanitarian committee that will help the council meet the needs of the people at the grassroots.
