Etinan Council led by the Chairman, Hon Uko Umoh, was at the country home of Mr Benedict Etuk at Ikot Akpaya to commiserate with him and the family over the loss of Lady Lawrencia Benedict Etuk.
Late Lady Lawrencia Etuk was the immediate past acting chairman of Etinan local government area.
Addressing members of the family, Hon Uko Umoh described Late Lady Lawrencia Etuk as a dynamic administrator who was passionate and committed in carrying out her task.
He described her death as a personal loss to him as she was her eyes and ears in the council while he was out on electioneering.
Hon Uko Umoh regretted the unfortunate death of the political and social activist, saying, the council in time past had done everything within its power to prolong her life.
“I must return double honour to her. We did all we could do to save her life but lost her to the cold hands of death. We will be there to give her the final respect. She was dear and good to me . We sympathize with you, it is a big loss to us as a Council”
Responding on behalf of the family, Mr. Benard Etuk, thanked the chairman for leading such a large delegation to commiserate with the family.
He described Late Lady Lawrencia Etuk as a well known political leader that was always at home with the people and apologized for whatever was written on social media about the council following her demise.
Also speaking, Prince Victor Okon Nathaniel also distanced Late Lawrencia Etuk’s family from any malicious publication against the Council and used the opportunity to invite the chairman and his entourage to the funeral of the late political activist.
The chairman of Ikot Akpaya Village Council, Obong Donald Uko, thanked God for the brief but imparted life of Late Lady Lawrencia Etuk. “We are very happy for the show of love. We are satisfied that you had a good working relationship with our late wife”
A minute silence was observed in honour of Late Lady Lawrencia Etuk while prayers for the bereaved family was offered by Hon Daniel Simeon.
The condolence visit had a large delegation made up of the Vice Chairman of Council, Leader of Legislative Council, Secretary of the Council, Head of Local Government Service, Councilors, Supervisors, Directors, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Chapter Chairman of APC, the DPO and other Service Commanders, NULGE and Aides to the Chairman
