A former Majority Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Pastor (Hon) Peter Pereotubo Akpe, has been confirmed as the new Deputy Governor.
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State had nominated Pastor (Hon) Peter Pereotubo Akpe, Chief of Staff at the Government House, as Deputy Governor.
The nomination was approved by the State House of Assembly on Tuesday, ending months of speculation over who would succeed the late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away on December 11, 2025.
Dr. Akpe, hails from Ebedebiri community in Sagbama Local Government Area, the same area as his predecessor.
