Uyo Fashion Week Births Modelling Academy

The management of Uyo Fashion Week has announced the launch of its new Modelling Academy dedicated to nurturing and preparing local talents for the global stage.

This announcement was made by Lady Mae Edmonds, the esteemed convener of the annual fashion fiesta, during the Model Casting for the upcoming Runway Show.

Lady Mae Edmonds highlighted the Academy’s mission to include empowering Akwa Ibom talents, equipping them with the skills and exposure needed to excel in the international runway industry.

“Our goal is to create a platform where young talents from Akwa Ibom can excel and compete on a global level,” she stated.

The Model Casting event saw an impressive turnout, with over 457 attendees and over 50 runaway models selected after a thorough exercise.

Uyo Fashion Week is scheduled for September 20th and 21st at Ibom Hall, Uyo. This year’s event promises to be a spectacular showcase, featuring 14 world-class designers from across Africa and 13 emerging designers from Akwa Ibom, aged 18 to 25 years.
