The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council, Hon Uko Umoh has received a report of a special committee on abandoned, non functional and dilapidated public facilities in the local government area.

Speaking at a brief ceremony in his office, Hon Uko Umoh expressed satisfaction with the committee’s report declaring that it has become a working tool for his administration.

The council boss said the committee’s report has covered everything in his mind as he is more concerned with how to better the lives of the people and make our communities more attractive in line with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno.

“We are going to do more copies of this report and send it out to our representatives both at the state and national assembly, we are going to send it also to the state government as well as Indigenes of Etinan in diaspora who are interested in bringing development to the local government but don’t know which area to start with. I don’t need anything, this document is my mind”
Hon Uko Umoh thanked the committee for living up to expectation and delivering within the given time saying, in delivering on his vision of repositioning the local government he will work with the committee from time to time.

Presenting the report, the chairman of the Etinan Local Government Implementation Committee, Mr. Kabnim H. Akpabio had commended the Chairman of council for his deep interest and concern for rural dwellers which informed his decision to breadth life into non functional, vandalised and dilapidated projects in the area.

He disclosed that the Committee traversed the entire 64 villages in the discharge of its assignment and thanked the council helmsman for finding members of the committee worthy to undertake such responsibility on behalf of the council.

Recommendations of the committee include protection of public facilities, conversion of electricity powered water projects to solar powered pumps, massive grading of roads, renovation of schools and hospitals including the General Hospital, Mbioto in southern Iman Ward 5 as well as an upgrade of some markets to boost internally generated revenue of the council.

Present at the ceremony were the vice chairman, Hon Imaobong Michael, council Secretary, Hon( Lady) Lawrencia Etuk, Chief of staff, Pastor Ubong Inyang Special Adviser on Youth, Hon Item Etuk, Head of Service Mrs Mercy Ntekim.

Etinan Local Government Project Implementation Committee has Otobong Nsekpong, Mr. Ime Okpon, Mr. Ubong Ekpa and Mr Akaninyene Udonsa as members while Surv. Unwana C.Akpan serves as the secretary.
