Senator Ekong Sampson Lists Achievements in the 10th Senate

The Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Barr Ekong Sampson, PhD has brought to the fore his achievements as member of the 10th national assembly.

This achievements cut across the three key areas of legislation, oversight and empowerment of his constituents in the Senatorial District.

Senator Ekong, who chairs the senate committee on Solid Minerals also spoke on the newly created South South Development Commission with headquarters in Uyo describing it as the game-changer for the people of Akwa Ibom and the South South.

He stressed that it will accelerate growth in the region and lauded President Tinubu for signing into law the Bill. “Let me also thank the Senate President for ensuring that the Bill scaled through different readings without much hurdles”.

Senator Sampson listed his bills on the floor of the Senate to include A Bill he said has scaled through second reading, A Bill for Establishment of Federal University of Medical Sciences, Eket (Set for Second Reading), Bill for establishment of Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, (now at Public Hearing level),.

He also listed projects facilitated by him for the Senatorial District to include construction of medical facilities in Eket, Oron and Ikot Abasi as well as the Bill for establishment of a Federal Medical Center in Akwa Ibom South, Arrangement for trainings and elaborate free medical services for Akwa Ibom South constituents, underway.

In Education, the senator highlighted the Construction of some Staff Quarter at Excellence College, Ikot Unya, Mkpat Enin LGA, which he said has been completed;
Fencing to commence at St Vincent Secondary School, Oti-oro, Okobo LGA; Construction of ICT Centres, nearing completion at St Francis Secondary School, Ikot Ataku, Eket LGA, St Vincent Secondary School, Oti-oro, Okobo LGA and Excellence College, Ikot Unya, Mkpat Enin LGA; Arrangements for the construction of staff quarters at Community Secondary, Udung Uko LGA; Construction of Science Laboratory at Community Technical School, Eyokpifie, Urueffong Oruko LGA as well as the Construction of boarding facilities at Excellence College, Ikot Unya

Others he said include, Electricity Project in Eyubiasang, Urueffong Oruko LGA, Okon-Eket in Eket LGA.
* Construction of School Block at Amadaka, Eastern Obolo LGA,
* Construction of School Block at Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, (about to be completed)
* Solar Streetlights in Eyibia, Udung Uko LGA.
* Solar Streetlights in Ikot Unya, Mkpat Enin, Uquo, Esit Eket LGA
* Erosion control project at Ekeya Okobo LGA.
* Facilitation of employment to over 30 Constituents into top Federal Government parastatals, with many more profiled to benefit.

Senator Sampson, assured members of the fourth estate of the realm of continuous strong working relationship for the advancement of the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, stressing further, he said that there is no LGA without a project facilitated by him.
