Royal Visit: Ekpe Afaha Visits Hon Uko Umoh, Solicits Support Of The People
The people of Etinan Local ocal Government Area have been called upon to support the administration of Hon Uko Umoh to bring development closer to the people
The call was made by the Ekpe Mboho Afaha Worldwide, Obong (Ekpe) Emmanuel C.O Akpan when he visited the chairman in his office at the Council’s Secretariat
According to him people must support the local government chairman to succeed, saying,professionals should volunteer their services to help the local government achieve its vision for the people.
” Let those in the medical field, the health workers volunteer their services in our hospitals, that way we will be able to help the local government bring health care services closer to the people.
“We don’t need selfish people in government. People with individualistic approach are not supposed to be in government. People should offer their services to help the chairman” he stressed.
Obong Emmanuel C.O.Akpan who lauded the chairman for doing above and beyond what he promised also called for long term plan to maintain our public infrastructures.
He pointed out that, it was better to have one well equipped health centre that covers ten villages and offers effective health care services than have 10 ill equipped health centres in 10 villages.
” The high rate of infant/maternal mortality is of great concern to me and if our health workers can volunteer their time, it will go a long way to reduce the death rate in our communities.
He also joined his voice to the call on people to embrace agriculture as it was capable of creating jobs and making food available and affordable to the people.
“There is also need to invest in agriculture and vocational education as this will create jobs, take away idleness and drug addiction
Welcoming his guest, the Chairman, Hon Uko Umoh recalled the moral support he enjoyed from his guest all through the electioneering and presented his intimidating scorecard in his first 100 days.
These achievements include but not limited to practical steps to restore electricity in our rural communities,building of ultra modern motor park, remodelling of Etinan roundabout, provision of potable water to communities that had water projects but are no longer functioning.
Hon Uko Umoh called on the title Chief to use his position to bring investment to the local government assuring him that the move to reposition Etinan Local Government Area is on course.
