Reason Former Commissioner for Science and Technology in Akwa Ibom Returned To PDP

Fresh facts have emerged why a one time Commissioner for Science and Technology in Akwa Ibom state, Dr (Mrs) Elizabeth Obot, returned to the umbrella party in her ward.

In the wake of the 2023 general elections, Dr Obot was one of the PDP stalwarts that pursued other interest on other political platforms deserting former Governor Udom Emmanuel who gave her appointment as member of the state executive council.

Speaking during a declaration event which took place
at her Ward, Southern Iman Ward 1, Dr Obot revealed that her return was prompted by the stellar performance of Pastor Umo Eno at the helm of affairs in the last one year, describing him as level headed, humble, focused and kind hearted leader who had exceeded expectations and was working assiduously to deliver the dividends of democracy to Akwa Ibom people.

Dr. Elizabeth Obot poured encomiums on the Ward Leader for sustaining the momentum of the PDP and for having a grip on happenings in the Ward while thanking her kinsmen for standing firm with the PDP. She noted that her absence was in pursuit of other interests, but had returned to further contribute to the betterment of the area.

Addressing the gathering, The Leader, of the Ward, Mr. Christian Amos thanked God for making the long awaited day a reality and applauded the former Commissioner for deeming it fit to return to the PDP fold, describing her as a great asset that was dearly missed. He took time to brief her on the goings on in her absence as well as the prevailing political arrangement of various positions in the area and beyond during her absence. He lauded the party faithful for their faithfulness and steadfastness in support of the ruling party, urging them not to renege on it as the party goes into another critical political season.

Former Councillor and Supervisor in the Ward, Ubong Kingsley, Former SA to the Governor, Louis Inyang, Former Councillor, David Okon Willie, serving supervisor in the council, Stanley Umoh and other stakeholders in their seperate remarks thanked Dr. Obot for deeming it fit to make the timely return and lauded Governor Umo Eno for his people oriented leadership and other political office holders including the Federal and State House Members, Obong Paul Ekpo and Hon. Uduak Ekpo-Ufot respectively for their quality of service to the people which had put smiles on their faces. They pledged to collaborate with Dr. Obot to ensure the party remains on a firm footing going forward.

The event came to a close with prayers for the Governor, Dr. Obot and the State. In her vote of thanks, Vice Chairman of the Party in the Ward thanked the stakeholders and party stalwarts for turning up en-masse to honour the former Science and Tech Boss.
