POLICE RECOVERS WEAPONS, CULT PARAPHERNALIA FROM SUSPECTED CULTISTS IN UYO
Two suspects identified as Donald Iwat (m) and Daniel Bruno (m) have been arrested by operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command over cult related crime.
The command also announced the successful recovery of dangerous weapons and items from the suspects linked to organized criminal activities.
A press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the successful arrest of the suspects at Iyah Street in Uyo follows a tip-off received around 0100 hrs on Tuesday, September 24, 2025.
According the press statement, a subsequent search conducted upon their arrest yielded the following items:
* One jack knife
* One walkie-talkie radio
* Gunpowder
* One “bullet-proof” charm (fetish substance)
* Two face caps bearing the insignia of the Black Axe Confraternity (cult group)
* Two machetes
* A Police lanyard
The suspects are currently undergoing investigation to determine the full scope of their activities and potential links to other crimes.
The Command assures the public of its commitment to rooting out cultism and other forms of violent crime, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid law enforcement efforts.
