Amisu Bala, a 30-year-old man is currently cooling off at the Police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia following his arrest in connection vandalized telecom mast on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
He is a member of a syndicate
who were reportedly loading a recently vandalized telecom mast into a truck along Obong Sampson Idiong Drive in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
In a press release signed by DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, the arrest was made possible following an actionable intelligence by operatives of the command.
“Based on actionable intelligence, Operatives were dispatched to where a group of individuals were reportedly loading a recently vandalized telecom mast into a truck. Upon the arrival of the patrol team, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning a green Isuzu truck with registration number AFG 517 XA.
“On Tuesday, September 2, 2025.at approximately 10:40 AM, a patrol team successfully apprehended a suspect and recovered a stolen vandalized telecommunications mast”the statement reads.
The recovered truck and the stolen telecom mast are now in police custody. An investigation is underway to uncover all the facts surrounding the crime, and efforts are being made to arrest the remaining members of the syndicate.
