Political Stakeholders of PDP from Essien Udim Local Government Area have put behind the outcome of October 5th local government elections by reaffirming their loyalty and support to the leadership of the party in the state.
At a meeting held at the residence of the Political Leader of Essien Udim, Obong Michael Afangideh, OON, members of the party and defectors who recently joined the party during the just concluded Local Government election campaigns attended.
Addressing the meeting, the PDP Chairmanship candidate in the just concluded Local Government polls, Engr Enobong Patrick, thanked the party members for their steadfastness and loyalty to the party, assuring that the PDP remains stronger than ever in the Local Government.
Engr Enobong Patrick commended the Governor for his magnanimity in approving appointments of Essien Udim Sons and Daughters, noting with delight that, the gesture has gone a long way to give the Local Government a sense of belonging and a sense of inclusiveness in the politics of Akwa Ibom State.
According to Engr Patrick, Essien Udim remains PDP and the Governor has justified this by the numerous appointments he has given to Essien Udim Sons and Daughters. “PDP remains very strong in Essien Udim LGA. We will match them empowerment by empowerment, appointment by appointment and project by project, all for the overall good of Essien Udim”.
“His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno is now an indigene of Essien Udim. Everything we want in Essien Udim will be given to us. His Excellency now has a dual citizenship, Nsit Ubium and Essien Udim. Our problem is his problem.
Our happiness is his happiness. Our joy is his joy”, he stated.
He explained that all decampees who defected to the PDP will be carried along which explains the appointment of Abom Ephraim Okon as Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Mobilization, while he (Engr Patrick) will coordinate all Youth related matters, with Chief Afangideh as Political Leader will continue to handle the affairs of the Caucus with Engr Oliver Ebong as the Deputy Caucus Leader.
Also speaking, the Member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, thanked PDP members for their support and solidarity with the party, and announced the approval of the Governor for the party to hold a Ward meeting in all the 13 Political Wards in Essien Udim on Saturday, October 12, 2024 by 3pm while all defectors will also hold their maiden PDP meeting on Sunday, October 13th in their respective Wards.
The meeting was attended by PDP Chieftains, Caucus members, members of the LOC of the just concluded election, DG and Heads of the Directorates of the EnoAbasi Campaign Organisation, Political appointees, State, Chapter and Ward officers, PDP’ candidates in the October 5 Local Government Election, Women and Youth groups among others.
