Palliative: Each village to get 40 bags of rice in Akwa Ibom
The Akwa Ibom State governmemt has announced that each of the 2,272 gazetted villages will receive 40bags of rice as part of palliative to cushion the effect of removing fuel subsidy.
This was part of the resolution of the state executive council meeting held on the 31 August, 2023.
This follows the submission of report by the palliative committee headed by the secretary to the state government, Prince Enobong Uwah.
Other measures taken to cushion the effect of subsidy removal include payment of N10,000 bursary to students of Akwa Ibom origin in tertiary institions, financial support to the tune of N2BN for government workers to cover the next three months.
Council also approved the production and distribution of exercise books to public primary and secondary schools, while transporters and traders will enjoy ticket free day on Fridays till December, 2023.
These measures according to a release signed by the commissioner for information is in addition to the over 2 Billion Naira gratuity already released and paid to both state and local government retirees.
