…says he will not appeal against the Tribunal judgement

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Arch Ezekiel Nya Etok says he will not appeal the ruling of the Akwa Ibom State governorship election petition tribunal which dismissed his petition against the election of Pastor Umo Eno of the PDP.

Speaking with some journalists in his office recently to announce his plans ahead of his 60th birthday celebration taking place 1st of November,2023, the progenitor of social governance maintained that his reason for filing a petition against the election of Pastor Umo Eno was his own contribution towards electoral reforms in Nigeria.

Arch Nya-Etok said what baffles him was the result INEC in Akwa Ibom announced which gave him only seven votes in the whole of Ikono-INI Federal constituency.
” How can Nya Etok have six votes from Ikono local government which is like a second home to him being his maternal family and one vote from INI local government bringing the total number of my votes to seven? This and other reasons took me to the Tribunal but unfortunately all my efforts and aspirations to seek justice was inconsequential to the judges.

He blamed party agents for the failure of their respective party as they are always ready to sell their votes to the big parties. “They are not there to defend the votes but to trade the votes of their masters. These are some of the things I will bring out for electoral reforms. Votes scored by smaller parties should be recorded into the result sheet in the open for all to witness”
On his planned 60th birthday celebration, Arch Nya-Etok said about 200 people will go home with different prizes from a Bible based quiz competition for the three categories under which the competition will be based.
Category 1 will be for primary school level, category 2 will be for secondary school while category 3 will be for those in tertiary institions and above.
Cash prizes ranging from N40,000 to N50,000 each will be won in tertiary level while winners at the secondary and primary level will go home with N20,000 and N30,000 respectively.
The competition which will start on the 23rd of October at Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, Eket senatorial district will have 25th while Uyo senatorial district will take turn on Friday 27 of October 2023.
It also intends to incorporate churches and schools as custodian of the contestants while a star prize will be won by overall best performing contestant.
