A chieftain of African Democratic Congress, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe says Nigerian legislators have slept off leaving the masses to suffocate under the weight of corruption, impunity and untold hardship.
Addressing a mammoth crowd that attended the unveiling of ADC held at Jenisi Event Centre, Uyo, the former representative of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District made reference to the American Senate that would have impeached the American President if his policies turned out to be anti people.
Reeling out facts showing high rate of poverty, insecurity, hunger, unemployment and weak Naira owing to low economic and industrial development, Akpanudoedehe, a former Minister of FCT lamented that the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu government which was originally intended to make the poor breath, has been hijacked by power drunk individuals and deployed against hapless Nigerian Citizens who now can barely feed.

Akpanudoedehe, a Doctor of Sociology while referencing Karl Marx’s postulation that the masses can defeat the ruling class if they are united, called on all citizens of voting age to get their voters card, refuse inducement and intimidation by the government and be willing to vote and defend their votes in 2027 assuring that ADC is created intentionaly to provide a veritable platform to launch a new, better and Prosperous Nigeria at all levels.
Also speaking, the governorship candidate of Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State in the 2023 general election, Dr Uduakobong Udoh expressed happiness at the unity of purpose exuded by leaders of the coalition at the national and state levels and cautioned Party members and interest groups against blackmail to ensure there is unity and focus in the party.
Dr Udoh regretted that Nigerians have not been served dividends of democracy but exploited by the ruling class saying, the ADC provides a veritable platform to drive a change process in the best interest of the citizens.
National officers of the party, Mr Austin Ekanem and Dr Ben Smith who doubles as leader of Obidient Movement in Akwa Ibom State also expressed happiness at the strength the party has garnered in Akwa Ibom State stressing that, it holds frest prospects of forming the next government to eradicate poverty, hunger by introducing new policy directives in the interest of the people.
Earlier in his remark, the State Chairman of the party, Rt Hon Duke Dick had thanked Akpanudoedehe in particular, other gubernatorial candidates and leaders of the movement in Akwa Ibom State for throwing their weight behind the party. Duke said their presence has broadened the parties chances of effecting leadership changes at the various arms of government in the State come 2027.
He assured that the party was still opened for every individual seeking to move Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State forward.
High point of the event was the defection of YPP State Chairman and his exco, APC State Vice Chairman and the Austin Ekanem led State Executive into the ADC and the unveiling of the party, a wave of its flags, the ceremonial handshake of unity and progress and invitation for all to return to base to work for the progress and success of the party.
