As Nigeria marks its 64th independence anniversary, the former Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Efiong Akwa has given Nigerians thump-up for being resilient, peaceful and creative in the face of the current economic reality bedeviling the country.
In a release personally signed by Dr. Efiong Akwa, the former NDDC boss took time to praise Nigerians for toeing the part of peace, describing the current economic challenges as a springboard to usher in a brighter and friendly future.
Dr. Akwa who is the immediate past sole Administrator / Chief Executive Officer of NDDC, now council member, representing South/South in the National council for Privatisation at the Presidency however praised Nigerians for being steadfast, law abiding and committed to the future of one indivisible Nigerian nation, noting that the current challenges will certainly usher in a new era of greatness in no distant future.
According to him, “as we celebrate this milestone, lets be in the know that peace is indispensable and it is widely known to be a vital ingredient of sustainable growth and development of any nation and our country cannot be an exception. We must strive for more stronger unity, peace and progress for the benefit of all Nigerians. As an indivisible entity bound together by common destiny, Nigeria needs peace to realise its endowed human and material potentials capable of catapulting the country to greatness. Let us also acknowledge the challenges we face as a country and see the need to come together to surmount them. I want to appreciate every Nigerian for keying into this euphoria.
“I also want to plead with the organizers of the planned October 1st protest to embrace dialogue which is a universally accepted reconciliation tool for venting their grievances. And I want to urge every Nigerian not to lose hope in the present administration of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Lets join hands with government to build, rather than becoming object of sabotage in the hands of people considered as enemies of goodwill, ” Dr. Akwa said.
