Housing: Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Portal Opens August 2024

 

Executive Director Estate Services, Federal Housing Authority, Arc. Nya-Etok has urged the people of Akwa Ibom state to take advantage of the Federal Government’s one thousand housing units, which will soon be floated in the State.

The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme is envisioned as exclusive residential communities for the high, medium and low income earners.

It encompasses one bedroom, two and three apartment blocks tailored for low and medium income earners, while two bedroom terraces, four bedroom terraces, four bedroom duplexes and five bedroom duplexes are designed for high income earners.

Arc. Nya-Etok while briefing journalists at the FG/NOVONE Garden Estate in Uyo, said out of the one hundred thousand housing units earmarked Nationwide, a thousand will be built in the State for diverse income earners along Airport Road, and commended the State government for making land available for the project’s take off.

While urging the to brace up for the program, the Social Housing Czar further divulged that portal for registration will soon be open for Nigerians to take advantage of the President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, which is a component of a Public-Private Partnership project established in December, 2023, between the Ministry of Housing and a consortium of companies.

Arc Nya-Etok who noted that a 1-2bedrooom unit apartment of the program may go for 7.5 million naira payable for a period of 20-25 years, said there’s a glimmer of hope for Nigerians, nay Akwa Ibomites to own affordable homes.

He passionately appealed to Akwa Ibom people not to sit on the fence when the portal is open, urging journalists to ensure the information get to the hinterlands so as to get more people to register.

He said: “Some of you may doubt me on the possibility but I can tell you it’s possible, I know some of you are married and have two or three children, I want to assure you that in less than two years from today you will be a home owner here in Uyo”.

“The initiative will unlock private-sector funds, which Nigerians can access for 25-year mortgages at low interest rates to realize their dream of owning a home, aims to further strengthen the Federal Mortgage Bank and the Federal Housing Authority, enabling both public and private entities to fulfil their housing obligations.

“The initiative, as approved by the council is tailored to meet the urgent demand for critical infrastructure and affordable homeownership, fostering job creation, inclusive growth, and long-term productivity enhancement.

Recall that recently, the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu-led Federal Executive Council has approved a whopping 2 trillion Naira to transforming the nation’s infrastructure and housing sector, hence the commencement of this program.
