Hon Uko Uko Umoh Commends Peaceful Conduct Of Students of School Health Technology
...as College Matriculates 371 students
The School of Health Technology, Etinan, has admitted 371 students into the five departments of the college.
The 7th matriculation ceremony took place on the 12th of December 2025 at the school premises in Ikot Ebiyak, Etinan Local Government Area.
In a goodwill message, the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon Uko Umoh, commended the management and students of the college for maintaining peace within the school campus and the host community.
According to him, in his two years as the Chief Security Officer of the local government area, he has not received any damaging security report of students of the College.
“I have not received any damaging security report either from the students within campus or in their host community.
“It therefore means that School of Health Technology is not just a training ground of future health professionals but also a breeding ground of disciplined and patriotic citizens. This is highly commendable, keep the flag flying”
The Council Boss who was represented by the Leader of the 8th Etinan Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh, congratulated the newly admitted students and urged them to take their studies seriously as matriculation is just the first step towards their professionalism in the health sector.
He also assured them that with the expansion in the health sector both at the state and local government, opportunities are waiting for them upon graduation.
“Bear in mind that with the expansion of health facilities both at the state and local government, more job opportunities will be created and government will be looking up to you to fill available vacancies. I expect you to give your best as only the best will justify government’s huge investment” the Council boss declared.
Also speaking,the representative of the Commissioner for Health in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Etop Antia, assured the students and management of the college that their request was receiving government attention.
Dr. Antia who is the Director of Public Health Services in the State’s Ministry of Health also stated that funds have been appropriated for the upgrade of infrastructure in the college in the 2026 budget of the state government. “The commissioner is aware of the challenges and very soon help is on the way” he assured.
Goodwill messages also came from the Divisional Police Office for Etinan, CSP Mfon Emem, representative of the Village Head of Ikot Ebiyak, Comrade Idohodangaekop Akpan and the SUG President of the college, Imaobong James.
Earlier in his remarks,the provost of the College, Pharm Uwah E. Jimmy, said the college will continue to uphold its core values of academic excellence, research and discipline.
He urged the new students to be regular in attendance in school and shun vices that can expose them to dangers saying, the college has zero tolerance for cultism and hooliganism.
He appealed for the construction of access road leading to the College, development of the permanent site, and an assent by the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, to the law establishing the college.
The 371 newly admitted students are spread into five departments of Community Health, Health Information Management, Environmental Health, Department of Pharmacy Technicians and Department of Laboratory Technology.
