The commissioning of Government Model School, Ikot Isong, Etinan Local Government Area by the governor has continued to attract accolades from the people of the area.
Speaking with National Witness at the venue of commissioning ceremony, the people unanimously described the model school as a fantastic and well conceived idea that has made quality education accessible to the people at the grassroots.
In his word, the Supervisor for Education in Etinan local government area, Mr. Ime Sam Okpon while appreciating the governor said a conducive environment is key to qualitative education.
“One reason many parents lost confidence in public schools was that of poor infrastructure but under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo Eno has restored public confidence in government schools”
For Hon Pius Emmanuel John, the concept of model schools by the present administration is a well thought out concept that is going to transform the education sector in Akwa Ibom state.

“In our days it was elementary schools but today it is a model school complete with all facilities like standard library, computer laboratory and a playground with modern facilities. This is highly commendable. This school will produce great leaders of tomorrow in the nearest future” he declared.
According to Prince Inyene Ekpe, the Personal Assistant to the Governor for Northern Iman Ward 2 “this is what every state in Nigeria should do, this is what is obtainable elsewhere in the world. This initiative by the governor for rural schools is going to drive traffic away from privately owned schools in this area”
Rt. Hon Inemesit Itinan PhD in response to a question put to him by our reporter said the people of Etinan are so happy to have this in their domain. This is a fantastic idea which was conceived and packaged in the ARISE Agenda but has now been delivered in our community. The governor is on course.
The Paramount Ruler of Etinan Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Aniefiok Monday Akpanobong thanked the governor for the numerous projects executed in the state since he came on board.
“Environmental factor plays a key role in obtaining good result by pupils. This is indeed a model school that will impact positively on the academic performance of our children. Keep doing the good works you are doing, God bless you”
The chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon Uko Umoh, while appreciating the governor for dragging development to Akwa Ibom communities recalled his days as pupil of Government School, Ikot Isong now Government Model School.
“Your Excellency, this is where I obtained my First School Leaving Certificate some years ago. As chairman of Council, I visited this school and the head teacher told me of the challenges in the school only for you to intervene and give us a school environment similar to what is obtained anywhere in the world. Etinan is happy with your performance as governor of Akwa Ibom State”
