Etinan Paramount Ruler Seeks Govt Aid, Police Post For Ndon Eyo 2

The Paramount Ruler of Etinan Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Aniefiok Monday Akpanobong has called on the government of Akwa Ibom state to come to the aid of the people of Ndon Eyo 2 as peace returns to the troubled Community.

Ndon Eyo 2, a community in Etinan that shares boundary with Mkpat Enin local government area was engulfed in an internal crisis which led to destruction of properties and lost of life.

Speaking with our correspondence in his palace in Nkana Iman, the royal father said there is total peace in the community following a peace process that was brokered by Iman Ibom Clan council on the 8th of December 2023.

While calling on Indigenes of the community who fled at the wake of the crisis to return home, he appealed to the governor, Pastor Umo Eno to consider some form of palliative and compensation for those who recorded huge loses in the crisis.

Edidem Akpanobong also called for an improvement in infrastructure and other social amenities in the area such as the completion of a bridge project abandoned by Niger Delta Development Commission many years ago. “I am in full support of calls for the establishment of a Police post in the community, health centre and construction of roads to give the people a sense of belonging”

The royal father commended the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for the bold steps he has taken so far to bring development to the state and her people noting that in the next few years, Akwa Ibom will be a reference point in both human and infrastructural development.
In a chat with our reporter, the village head of Ndon Eyo 2 Eteidung John Etuk said his greatest desire is peace because peace brings development.
According to him, when there is peace, the community will witness rapid infrastructural development.
He specifically mentioned the road project which was supposed to link the community to other communities like Edem Ekpat, Ndon Eyo 1 all in Northern Iman.

Also speaking the stakeholders’ chairman in Ndon Eyo 2, Mr Monday Hilary Edem thanked God for the life of the Paramount Ruler who takes great delight in the peace of other communities in Etinan local government area. “His intervention has brought peace back to the community. He took the crisis in Ndon Eyo 2 as his personal problem and to the glory of God there is peace in our community today.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank member representing Etinan state constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon Uduak Ekpo-ufot for working tirelessly to bring peace to the community”

On his part, the secretary of the Stakeholders forum, Mr Christian Akpan thanked God for the life of the Paramount Ruler of Etinan whom he described as the Solomon of our time.
He also appreciated the contributions of the immediate past chairman of Etinan local government area, Hon Cletus Ekpo for standing firmly with the Community at the time of crisis.

He appealed for compensation for those who lost their means of livelihood during the crisis as well as help the community complete the ongoing Health Centre project.

Meanwhile, a youth activist in the community Mr. Ime Peter Etukudoh has assured all Indigenes of Ndon Eyo 2 that there is absolute peace in the community now and called on all those who ran away to return immediately. He promised to work with the leadership of the community for sustained peace in the village of Ndon Eyo 2 as well as report any breech or threat to peace and security to the leadership of the community and the government.
