Etinan Legislative Council To Make Law For Regulation Of Operation of Motor Parks in Etinan
The 8th Legislative Council of Etinan Local Government Area is set to enact a bye law to regulate the operation of Motor Parks in the local government area.

The bill which is sponsored by Hon Abasifreke Linus Noah, Councilor representing Northern Iman Ward 1 in the legislative council seeks among other things to regulate the establishment of motor Parks, fee and charges to be remitted to the Council, administration of public Motor Parks, Licence for private motor Parks and form and duration of licenses.
Other aspects of the law takes into consideration what would be determined as licence fees, registration of commercial vehicles, power to revoke registration, setting up of licence and registration authority as well as official opening hours of motor Parks.
Speaking at plenary on Tuesday 4th November,2025, Hon Abasifreke Noah described Etinan local government area as a thriving with a rich cultural heritage and a growing population.

Hon. Noah said with vibrant markets within the local government area, the bill when enacted makes provision for the establishment of private Motor Parks pointing out that, no person or group of persons will be allowed to operate a motor park without obtaining Licence of Operation from the Local Government Council.
Administratively, the bill also states that public place designated as motor park shall be under the administration and control of local government employee in the cadre of motor park as enshrined in the approved scheme of service in the local government.
Receiving the bill, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh, commended the sponsor of the bill saying, it has come at the right time to provide the legal frameworks for the ultra modern motor park built by the administration of Hon Hon Uko Umoh.
He said the Legislative Council is being proactive as development is coming to Etinan in the nearest future where the issue of illegal Motor Parks may become a problem.
