The Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Honourable Uko Umoh has assured Iman Ibom Traditional Council of a befitting office before the end of his tenure.
Speaking when he paid an unannounced visit during the last meeting of the clan council in Nkana Iman, Etinan Local Government Area, the chairman reiterated his deep respect for the traditional institution.
He expressed his desire to see development in Etinan and urged all to join hands in attracting development to our respective communities.
“The discovery of oil in our Local Government today is as a result of the repeated prayers of the Paramount Ruler for peace and development.
“Let us not sell ourselves to outsiders for negative reasons. Let us marry our interest together to avoid a situation where we drive away the blessing of God upon our land.
“The crisis that is brewing will not stop either the Paramount Ruler from being the Paramount Ruler neither will it deny the chairman of council his mandate but it may stop development in our community”
The chairman who came with bags of rice for the yuletide therefore called on the people especially those from Mbioto community to embrace development and allow peace to reign while their right will be given to them.
Responding, the Paramount Ruler, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Aniefiok Monday Akpanobong thanked the Executive Chairman of the council for coming to appreciate the royal fathers who stood by and supported his election in the October 5th Local Government polls.
On the issue of discovery of oil in Etinan Local Government, the royal father called for justice noting that injustice breeds anger envy and hatred among the people.
The royal father also called on the company to be sincere with the people to ensure peace for the desired development.
