Key opposition leaders gathered at the Millennium Hall of Etinan Local Government Secretariat in a meeting with the Executive Chairman, Hon Uko Umoh and notable PDP leaders from the local government area.
Those in attendance on the PDP side include the leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh, the Chairman of PDP in Etinan Local Government Area Hon Pius Emmanuel John (Paiko), Vice Chairman of PDP Uyo Senatorial district, Rt. Hon Inemesit Itinan PhD, Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Etinan, Pastor Ubong Inyang.
Addressing leaders of main opposition parties in Etinan, the Chairman of Council, Honourable Uko Umoh called for oneness among the political class in Etinan.
He assured the people that electioneering was over and it was time for governance calling for collective effort to move the local government forward thereby restore the lost glory of the area.
“It is our responsibility to build Etinan where there is peace and harmony for businesses to thrive. It is our collective duty to build a local government that will be an investor’s delight and above all a local government that will emerge the envy of others in the nearest future”
Also speaking the political leader of Etinan Local Government Area, Obong Kenneth Okon emphasized on unity in Iman which according to him should go beyond politics to include, empowerment, support for those in need and industrialization of the local government.
Chairman of APC in Etinan,Mr. Israel Tommy and his counterpart in YPP, Mr. Nkese applauded the governor for the initiative to bring opposition parties together and assured the Council chairman of their support to move the local government forward.
In a vote of thanks, Pastor Uduakabasi Ikpatt thanked the governor for calling opposition leaders together noting that it is first in history in Akwa Ibom state.
Those in attendance include Obong Ini Obot, Obong Kingsley Peter, Mrs Barbara Obot, Pastor Uduakabasi Ikpatt, Obong Jordan Nsekpong, Chapter Chairman of APC Mr. Israel Tommy and Chapter Chairman of YPP MR Nkese, Mr Wisdom Lawson, Kenneth Effiong Okon and many others.
