Emir of Kano in A’Ibom as Umo Eno Pledges Continuous Partnership with Traditional Institution

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has reiterated his resolve to continuously support and partner with the traditional institution for the overall good of the State.

The Governor stated this during a courtesy visit by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero held at the State Executive Council Chambers, Uyo.

He noted that the traditional institution and fathers, as custodian of the people’s culture, are significant and must be accorded due reverence.

Governor Eno who expressed delight at the royal visit, called on traditional fathers across the state to join hands with his administration to actualise the ARISE Agenda for the betterment of Akwa Ibomites.

He recalled his days in Kano while working with Bertola Machine Tool Ltd, saying it was nostalgic playing host to the Emir and his council.

The Governor who is evidently detribalised in his disposition, said the state has lived harmoniously with the different communities in the State including the Arewa, adding that the State will remain receptive to ideas, innovations and people that will help further its development.

He appreciated the Emir and his council for the visit and prayed that the visit will cement the relationship with the State for some mutual benefits.

Earlier in his remarks, the Emir congratulated the Governor on his election victory and appreciated him for the warm reception given him and his team since arrival.

He noted that the visit was not his first to the State as he had earlier been in the State over 30 years back, but specifically commended the Governor and successive leaders for worthy developmental projects across the State.

Aminu Ado Bayero, CFR who is the 15th Fulani Emir of Kano from the Fulani Sullubawa clan said his visit to the Governor was to pay homage as his official visit to the State will not be complete without such honour to the Governor.

He said Kano is not only the economic nerve centre of Nigeria but Africa, adding that his visit included to explore ways of linking up and fostering commercial engagements that will be mutually beneficial

At the event were the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers and Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko LGA, HRM Odidem Bassey Etim Edet, and other Paramount Rulers, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Head of Service, Elder Effiong Essien, members of the State Executive Council, Permanent Secretaries, and others.
