The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Frank Archibong has brought succor to families in Eket Local Government Area and its environ through Free Medical Outreach.
The medical outreach sponsored by the Udo Archibong Foundation (UAF) is part of activities to mark the 49 birthday anniversary is held at Immanuel Hospital in Eket and has achieved remarkable success.
In just two days, the outreach has recorded over 70 surgeries thereby addressing the health challenges faced by the region’s most vulnerable residents.
The initiative has garnered significant attention from residents of Eket and neighboring communities, many of whom attended with various medical conditions. A beneficiary, a woman from Ikot Ubo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, expressed her profound gratitude for the life-saving surgery she received.
“When I heard about the free surgery, I decided to give it a try, and to my surprise, the operation was successful. I am eternally grateful to Hon. Archibong for this opportunity,” she shared, offering a heartfelt prayer for the sponsor and his family.
Another patient, an elderly woman from Ikot Ibiok in Eket, emotionally thanked God for using Mr. Archibong to make her surgery possible. She also prayed for his continued success and blessings.
Nurse Patience Offiong, actively involved in the program, described the initiative as “remarkable and unprecedented.” She emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent individuals from receiving essential medical care, praising the inclusivity of the program.
“There is no discrimination here. Everyone who walks into this facility receives free medical attention, all thanks to the sponsor,” she remarked.
Mr. Samuel Okon, Chairman of the Free Medical Outreach, highlighted the profound impact of the initiative, noting its success in addressing critical health challenges that cause discomfort and pain in people’s lives.
“Frank Archibong has exceeded expectations. He embodies humanity in every sense, treating ailments like appendicitis, fibroids, and more, all free of charge,” Mr. Okon stated.
He also extended his gratitude to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for empowering Mr. Archibong to serve in this capacity, reflecting the Governor’s own commitment to the people.
Meanwhile, Dr. King Udo, a consultant general surgeon from the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, revealed the outreach’s ambitious goal of performing approximately 200 surgeries by its conclusion.
His remarks underscore the medical team’s relentless dedication to providing life-changing care to as many people as possible. As the Free Medical Outreach continues, it not only celebrates the life of Frank Archibong but also serves as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and service.
