DON’T SPIRITUALISE HEALTH ISSUES – AKICORP MD CAUTIONS
Staff of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, AKICORP, have been cautioned against turning health challenges into spiritual matters.
Speaking at a recent management meeting, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer (MD CEO) of the corporation, Mr. ImoAbasi Jacob, said that as part of work ethics, personnel must pay apt attention to their health, as sound health enhances productivity.
Stressing on the importance of
prioritizing physical health over spiritual explanations for medical issues, he noted that, the many deaths attributed to sudden collapses could have been prevented if the individuals involved had heeded the warning signs and sought timely medical attention.
Instead of spiritualizing health issues, the Corporation’s MD/CEO rather encouraged the staff to report any concerns to their healthcare providers.
To promote healthier habits, the MD/CEO recommended that staff should embrace healthy eating habits. He stressed, they could achieve this by shunning processed foods even as he enjoined the female staff members to
Prepare nutritious meals for their spouses and children.
As a precautious measure, he enjoined staffers to enroll in the State Health Insurance Scheme, in order ensure access to quality healthcare.
By prioritizing physical health and addressing medical issues promptly, he explained that the Corporation aimed to promote a healthier and more proactive approach to staff wellbeing. Meanwhile, the office has extended an invite to dieticians, for purpose of providing guidance in the area of making healthy dietary choices.
