CHAIRMAN OF UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMENDS AKS NSCDC FOR DEDICATED SERVICE
The Chairman, Uyo Local Government Council, Dr Uwemedimo Udo JP has commended officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Akwa Ibom State Command for their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property.
Dr Udo gave the commendation during a meeting held in his office with the State Commandant of NSCDC, Engr Eluwade Eluyemi, and his entourage.
He lauded the Commandant’s foresight in engaging stakeholders in the mining sector, aligning with the efforts of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno to combat illegal mining. He urged the NSCDC to enhance their efforts in preserving the environment and curbing unwholesome practices, particularly regarding scavengers in the State capital.
The Chairman assured the NSCDC of the Council’s readiness to cooperate with the Corps and relevant stakeholders in ensuring the security of critical assets and infrastructure in the local government area and the State.
Earlier in his remarks, the NSCDC State Commandant, Engr Eluwade Eluyemi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the purpose of their visit, which was to seek support and cooperation in addressing security challenges in the area.
He emphasised NSCDC’s core mandates, including regulating and combating illegal mining activities to ensure that miners operate within the legal framework and do not pose environmental or security risks
Present during the meeting were Hon. Ubong Effiong, the Leader of the 7th Uyo Legislative Council, and Mr. Ubong Udofia, the Secretary of Council.
