Nigerian automobile users have been assured of the highest quality multi -layered oil filters at affordable prices, within their reach soonest.
This promise came from the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mimshac Transportation Technologies Ltd, Mr Valentino Okorie, when he conducted a delegation from the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) round the Mimshac factory at Ikot Ukab, Itam, recently.
Okorie hinted that oil filters were in high demand as an average of 5 million pieces were consumed daily. He disclosed that in the first quarter of 2022, record showed that over N 59 billion worth of these bypass filters were imported, with over 2,600 freight shipments in the same year. He highlighted the high clearing cost and foreign exchange impact that this importation caused Nigerians.
With the Federal Government policy of promoting local content, he said that Mimshac rose up to the challenge of offering Nigerians high quality filters void of the problems associated with importation.
He said that presently, Mimshac factory was producing 33, 000 pieces of filters every 8 hours and had as its target, reducing the dependence on foreign filters by half in less than 5 years.
On quality, he assured that by 2028, Mimshac oil filters would be the preferred choice in the market as it comes with multi-layered and pleated filtration media for increased durability, anti-drain back valve for engine protector and efficiency, pre-lubricated gasket for leak protection as well as a thick aluminum casing for greater protection and ease of installation. He added that these features are as a result of technology transfer from Israel.
The business man informed the team that Mimshac was the only oil Manufacturer in Nigeria, and the second in Africa. Explaining his choice of citing the company in Akwa Ibom, Okorie attested that the State was a land of limitless opportunities which provided investors with all they needed to thrive. He described the people of Akwa Ibom as committed and dedicated to responsibilities justifying why they made up 95% of the company’s workforce. He disclosed that the company had, for business sustainability, sent 10 Akwa Ibom indigenes in its employ, to Israel for training.
Okorie however identified the ravine encroachment as one of its biting challenges and called for the intervention of the State Government.
The Executive Director, Other Investments, Barr Ben Udowa who led the AKICORP team, said that the facility tour had accorded him a first hand impression about the activities of the company, which he held, was highly commendable. He applauded the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach of the company.
Udowa reiterated the commitment of the Gov Umo Eno- led administration towards investments that incorporated entrepreneurship, capacity building and industrialization. He assured Mimshac that having met all the expectations, the State would assist him to thrive.
