ARMED MEN ABANDON CAR AT POLICE CHECK POINT TO EVADE ARREST IN AKWA IBOM

Four persons suspected to be armed robbers have abandoned a suspected stolen car at a Police checkpoint to evade arrest upon sighting the police team at Mbak Itam III by Nassarawa Market in Itu local government area of Akwa Ibom state.
In a press statement signed and released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, states that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough following a successful operation on Friday, November 7, 2025.
At about 23:30 hours, a surveillance patrol team while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation along Mbak Itam III by Nassarawa Market, sighted a black Toyota Camry car with registration number LND 360 DC.

The vehicle, which was occupied by four individuals, was strongly suspected to be stolen, upon sighting the police team, the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush to evade arrest.
A subsequent and thorough search of the abandoned vehicle conducted by the police led to the recovery of the following items:
• Two (2) locally made pistols
• four (4) live cartridges
• Two (2) Tecno Android phones
• One (1) battle axe
• one (1) machete
• one (1) battery charger
• two (2) vehicle number plate Registration No. BKS 705 DD
• Two (2) black head gears
The recovered Toyota Camry has been impounded and taken to the station as an exhibit to aid in the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, has ordered a discreet and comprehensive investigation in order to arrest the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The CP assures the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
