Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Etinan Council Holds Thanksgiving Service

Ahead of January 15 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance day, an interdenominational church service was held at United Evangelical Church, Asuna, Etinan Local Government Area by Etinan Local Government Council.

The church service which was attended by members of the Nigerian legion featured a session of praise and thanksgiving to God for keeping the nation as one united entity.
Addressing congregants and the good people of Etinan local government area, the Chairman of Council, Hon Uko Umoh, said he holds members of the legion in high esteem for their sacrifice to the nation.
Hon Uko Umoh whose father died in active service as a soldier assured the legionaries that he will continue to work for them just as he will continue to work for the people of Etinan local government area

The council boss used the occasion to appreciate the Legislative Council and members of the Executive Council for their tremendous support that has seen him bring development to the doorsteps of Etinan rural communities.
Hon Uko Umoh also called for support for the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, saying Etinan must proved that they are the first born of the Federal Constituency.
“Take advantage of the Continuous Voter’s Registration Exercise to register as a voter so that together we will return our governor back to hilltop mansion for a second term.”

Also speaking, Captain Mfon Udom, appreciated God for the lives of legionaries who risked their lives for our safety and unity.
Captain Udom who is the chairman of the Church Committee supported the Armed Forces emblem launch with the sum of a N100,000 00 (Hundred Thousand Naira ) and also appealed for support from dignitaries at the service towards the procurement of a multi media equipment for the media unit of the Church.

In a sermon drawn from Luke 5:1-11, the Superintendent Pastor of United Evangelical Church, Asuna, Rev. UkoAbasi Andrew Essien called for unity of purpose among those working with chairman as that remains the path to greater achievements by the local administration.
The interdenominational church service also featured thanksgiving and intercessory prayers for Nigeria, Akwa Ibom and Etinan Local Government Area.
The thanksgiving service was well attended by a cross section of Etinan people including the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Uko Udom SAN, the Vice Chairman, Hon Imaobong Michael, Leader of Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh and Councilors, Secretary of Council Hon Idorenyin Udo and Supervisors, the Head of Service, Mr Saviour Okon and Directors, the Paramount Ruler, His Majesty , Edidem Aniefiok Monday Akpanobong and royal fathers, Divisional Police Officer, CSP Emem Mfon and other Service Commanders in Etinan, NULGE Chairman, Comrade Idongesit Essien and members as well as the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Pastor Ubong Inyang.
